To enter Jamaica a valid passport is required. Citizens of the U.S, the UK, Canada and other major European countries are not required to have a visa to visit Jamaica, but must present a valid passport when leaving and or re-entering their country.  All visitors are required to travel with a return ticket or onward ticket for entry into Jamaica.  Other nationalities please contact your local Jamaican embassy, Consulate or Jamaica Tourism office or visit www.visitjamaica.com to verify correct documentation needed.

Vaccinations are not necessary for travel to Jamaica from the US, Canada, United Kingdom or any major European country.We recommend you speak to your doctor for more information.

The electrical supply in Jamaica is 110 volts/50 cycles standard, and electrical appliances use plugs that are two-pronged and flat (such as those used in the United States and Canada).If your appliances do not use 110 volts or flat two-pronged plugs, we recommend bringing the requisite adaptors and converters with you. For your convenience, hair dryers are provided in every Jewel guest room.

We accept Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover.

Yes, a credit is required upon check-in for any incidental charges during your stay. If you prefer to not give a credit card cash may be used, a deposit in the amount of $200 per room is required upon check in.

Once you arrive at The Jewel, nearly everything is already included in the price you have paid.Please budget for items such as Spa treatments, optional tours and attractions, gift and jewelry shops including duty free items, phone calls, P.A.D.I. certification or refresher courses, and local vendor purchases. US dollars are widely accepted in Jamaica and actually recommended. Most items will be priced USD, but keep in mind local vendors may not have change so we suggest you bring smaller bills.

All guest rooms have an in-room electronic safe deposit box. We advise guests to place travel documents and any other valuables in this secure place.

Smoking is not allowed in the rooms or enclosed restaurants. If you wish to smoke, we ask that you confine this to your guest room balcony or other outdoor areas.

Tipping is at your sole discretion. If you feel that our staff has gone above and beyond you are more than welcome to tip.

Tap water is safe to drink because it is filtered and chlorinated.
Xamayca" is the name that the first Jamaicans, the Tainos, gave to this country. It means "Land of Wood and Water", and for good reason; Jamaica has hundreds of spring and rivers, both above and underground. Over the years, Jamaica has developed extensive water treatment and supply systems; island wide, so all drinking water in Jamaica is purified and filtered by modern methods. Our water is safe for you to drink, clean your teeth, bathe and wash clothing in. If you choose not to drink the water, rest assured; there are many brands of Jamaican spring water that meet or exceed the highest international standards, available at most shops and restaurants for an additional fee.

There is a Registered Nurse on the premises with scheduled hours.Should you need medical attention outside of these hours; we have a doctor on call 24-hours a day. You will be responsible for any additional charge if the doctor is called or if a prescription is needed.

The Jewel is an adults-only resort, the minimum age to check in is 18 years of age.

The resort is approximately 90 minutes from both Norman Manley (Kingston) International Airport (KIN) and Montego Bay’s Sangster International Airport (MBJ).

Yes, complimentary round-trip airport transfers via Jamaica Tours Ltd.(JTL) are included for all guests* from Montego Bay’s Sangster International Airport (MBJ). Upon arrival, guests should check in at Jamaica Tours Ltd. Desk located in the airport’s Welcome Lounge at desk 21.

Guests arriving with a wheelchair can be transported via our complimentary shuttle if she/he can get aboard the bus and allow wheelchair to be stored and transported without liability.

Platinum: In keeping with the ambiance, we ask that you dine in Resort Elegant dress: summer or cocktail dress, slacks or skirt and nice top for women.  Dress or khaki pants, shirts with sleeves and collars and dress shoes for men.  Jackets and ties are not required, but welcome.  Jeans, shorts, sleeveless shirts, t-shirts, caps, sneakers or, flip flops are not allowed. 

Only at the Jade Samurai. The Teppanyaki style live cooking with chop chop entertainment has set seating times.  Reservations can be made while on property.

All of our restaurants offer spa cuisine vegetarian options and our chefs are happy to assist with options designed for your special needs.

Yes, The Jewel offers room service complimentary in Diamond Concierge Ocean View Guestrooms and Butler Suites. All other room categories offer room service at a modest additional cost.

We do not have adjoining rooms with a door in between; however based on availability and if reserved in the same category, the resort can have guests in groups stay in rooms close to each other.

One-Bedroom Ocean View Butler Suite and our Honeymoon Haven One-Bedroom Ocean Front Suite include butler service.

You have access to a personal butler to take care of all your on-island arrangements beginning with a special greeting upon arrival, in-suite check-in, unpacking/packing service, plush his and her robes  wet bar in-room stocked and replenished with premium liquors, wine and champagne, room service, special dinner reservations, a cell phone to access your butler and on and on.

You enjoy room service, plush his and her robes, upgraded mini-bar, which includes locally-branded liquors and wines, plus access to a dedicated desk to handle needs including shopping trips and excursions.

The majority of our rooms feature a luxurious King Size bed. We now have some rooms with double beds available, please contact reservations for more details and requests.

Singles are welcome at The Jewel.

The whole property is wheelchair accessible however our rooms are not outfitted for wheelchair accessibility. 

The Jewel’s Tours and Activities Desk, conveniently located in-resort, can help you book a variety of activities and tours.  Visit them upon arrival or contact them before arrival at jtlgroups@jamaicatoursltd.com.        

Topless sunbathing is not recommended as public nudity is against the law in Jamaica.

Beach Parties: Every Tuesday starting at 6:30pm at the Beach.

Managers Cocktail: Every Friday starting at 6:00pm in the Courtyard near Court Jesters Pizza.

Dinner under the starts: Every Friday starting at 7:15pm at the Pier.

• You must be at least 18 years of age
• You must be on the island a minimum of 48 hours prior to the wedding. 

DOCUMENTATION REQUIRED INCLUDES:

• State–issued birth certificates; please note that Passports will not be accepted in lieu of birth certificates.
• Copy of Photo ID or Passport.
• If either the bride or groom has been divorced, a final divorce decree.
• If widowed, a state issued death certificate with related marriage certificate.
• If applicable, legal name change or legal adoption documents.
• If any original documentation is issued in a language other than English, they must be professionally translated into English and included in the documents sent to us.
• Please do not supply original documents as they will not be returned; they are kept by the Jamaican Government.
• For the purpose of authenticating your personal documents, Jamaica requires notarization before they can have legal effect. To have your documents authenticated, bring them to a local notary public. He or she will take a copy of the documents and notarize the copy attesting to having seen the original.
• Please send the notarized photocopies (with the notary’s original ink signature & stamp) of the required documents for both the bride and groom to The Jewel Wedding Office via courier service.
• The documents should be sent at least 60 DAYS prior to the arrival date. If you send the documentation within 60 days, there will be a US $100.00 late fee.
